| PATENT ANNUITIES |
A Power-of-Attorney is required for payment of maintenance fees. Patent annuities are payable from the 3rd year counting from the date of filing in Macedonia.
Patent annuities do not have to be paid until the patent is registered. Upon grant, SOIP will request payment of the accumulated annuities.
For PCT applications that have entered the national phase in Macedonia, the filing date is the date of filing of the PCT application and annuities are calculated from that date, but are payable from the date of filing in Macedonia.
For European patents that have been extended to Macedonia, the renewal fees shall be paid to SOIP for each year following that in which the order on the grant of the European patent is published.
Patents are valid 20 years from the date of filing.
Life of a patent can be extended for a maximum period of 5 years, providing a Supplementary Protection Certificate is issued by SOIP.
Grace period: 9 months in which the official fees are increased by 25% for the 1-3 months, and 100% for the next 6 months.

A Power-of-Attorney is required for payment of maintenance fees. Maintenance fees are paid every ten years, starting from the date of filing, but first renewal is paid upon grant.

| DESIGNS |
A Power-of-Attorney is required for payment of maintenance fees. As of 1 January 2004, industrial designs are valid 25 years from the date of filing. Industrial Designs are renewed in five-year intervals.
Grace period: 9 months in which the official fees are increased by 25% for the 1-3 months and 100% for the next 6 months. |
