Albania

PATENT ANNUITIES

A Power-of-Attorney must be filed for each renewal.
Patent annuities are payable from the 1st year counting from the date of filing in Albania, and are paid in advance.
For PCT applications that have entered the national phase in Bulgaria, the filing date is the date of filing of the PCT applications and annuities are calculated from that date, but are payable from the date of filing in Albania.
For European patents that have been extended to Albania, the renewal fees shall be paid to The Albanian Patent Office for each year following that in which the order on the grant of the European patent is published.
Patents are valid 20 years from the date of filing.
Grace period: 6 months in which the official fees are increased by 50%.

For payment of annuities in Albania, apart from the usual data required, following information is also necessary:
-AL-P number
-Entry number

TRADEMARKS

Trademarks are valid 10 years, starting from the date of filing.
Maintenance fees are paid for a period of 10 years.
Grace period: 6 months with payment of penalty fee.

DESIGNS

A Power-of-Attorney must be filed for each renewal. Industrial Designs are valid 15 years from the date of filing.
1-5 years maintenance fees are paid upon grant.
Industrial designs are paid in five-year intervals, and a Power-of-Attorney is required for each renewal.
Grace period: 6 months with payment of penalty fee.
